BIKING THROUGH TURKEY | “IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF ERTUGRUL” WITH IRUSA

We landed in Istanbul, were driven hours away & given bikes. The mission? Get back to Istanbul. We undertook this challenge in order to raise awareness & funds for water projects that IR is working on in East Africa. To be able to combine my love for health & wellness with creative work was a dream come true since I was on this trip on assignment to tell the story while pumping my legs through it all. // This was the most incredible trip of my freelance career. There’s no amount of writing- no amount of words- that could ever capture what this trip meant to me. With a hodgepodge of strangers-turned-friends that felt like the most eclectic movie cast, I found myself halfway across the globe, trying to visually tell the story of what we experienced there. To meet as eight strangers in a country halfway across the globe & then spend almost 200 hours together trekking & biking across a country where no one else understands you- it sounds so crazy but the stories & moments we came out with are some that I’ll recall for the rest of my life & only people on this trip will be able to fully grasp. To be able to take these stories back to the corners of the world that each of us came from & share them with loved ones is a part of what makes travel so rewarding when done with purpose. The bonds you create over such a purpose-packed trip that challenges you mentally & physically as a team are so unique & irreplaceable, no matter how fleeting any part of it may be. Enjoy this retelling!
